Which Part of Istanbul is best for me?
The two main areas to stay in for visitors to Istanbul are Sultanahmet (the Old City) and Taksim Square area.
Many of our guests choose to stay in Sultanahmet (the Old City) which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within walking distance from all hotels in Sultanahmet, this area offers a convenient way to see the main sites of Old Istanbul such as Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Museum, Blue Mosque, Istanbul Archaeology Museum, Hippodrome, Obelisk, Underground Cistern, Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar and many more.
The Taksim Square side of Istanbul offers our visitors a more lively view of Istanbul – a blending of the old world with the modern.
From Taksim Square, the famous Istiklal Street is the main shopping street in Istanbul with several million visitors per day. This pedestrian (and trolley) street has many small alleys branching off with quaint cafes, traditional and modern restaurants, night clubs and local shops. Istiklal Street descends down the hill from Taksim Square to the Galata Tower and the boutique hotels in this area also cater to foreign visitors with many modern hotel options. From this area, the Old City of Sultanahmet is just a tram ride away.
Airport hotels
There are several good quality hotels near the Ataturk Airport for our guests on connecting or early morning flights. Most of these hotels are geared towards business travelers and offer all the modern facilities one would need while traveling. Please email us for more information on airport area hotels. The Sultanahmet area is also close to the airport and we offer airport transfers from your hotel if you prefer to stay in the city.
Karsi – the Asian side of Istanbul
There are several delightful neighborhoods on the Asian side, most notably Kanlica, Kadikoy, Poyrazkoy and Uskudar. These areas offer a quieter, more “local” flavor of Istanbul. Many of these neighborhoods are accessible by ferry or bus and are perfect for those who have already seen the sites of Istanbul and would like to discover a different side of Istanbul. For those interested in staying in this side of Istanbul, please note that airport transfers and tours will add a surcharge for transportation.
