ALADAGLAR (THE CRIMSON MOUNTAINS)
The Aladaglar are an extension of the Taurus Mountains and the highest peak of The Eastern Taurus Mountain Range which is 3756 meters. This mountain range stretches over a 25 km wide, 40 km long area and has more than 60 peaks that are over 3000 meter-high. There are two main entrances to the range that are being used continuously by mountaineers and climbers.
The Aladaglar have been visited by the researchers, mountaineers and hill walkers since the early 1900′s. Many routes and climbs have been opened by people who practiced mountaineering and rock climbing.There are over 150 routes that lie scattered throughout the mountain range.
Aladaglar Trek (3 days, 2 Nights Camping)
Day 1: We meet with our transfer vehicle at 08.30 at Turkish Heritage Travel Office, Goreme, Cappadocia. Then we have 2 hours drive to our camp area called “Sarimehmedin Yurdu” (1800m) in Aladaglar South Region. After setting up the camp site ,we begin our walk for today. Our path follows up via small pine forest to Kucuk Mangirci Valley with the impressive views of the Nort Face of Ortaburun Summit. After this walk up to Alaca Yayla (2500m) we may meet the Semi Nomadic Camp depends on the season. After picnic lunch we continue our trek to beginning of Golgeli Yurt Valley, and then walk down to our camp area via Oluksekisi Semi Nomadic Camp area. Total walk is 4-5 hours. Dinner at camp.
Day 2: We wake up at 07.00, have breakfast and walk to past Aksampinari spring where we take a close look at the 180 metres high rock tower of “Parmakkaya” : the “Fingerrock”. Then we walk to Eznevit summer pasture (2400) and walk to Sokullupinar spring (2000m) (6-7 hours walk). Night at permanent campsite at Sokullupinar, Dinner at camp.
Day 3: We wake up 08.00, have breakfast and start walking to Arpalik Pasture (2400m) via Sokullu Pinarı camp area. After Arpalik pasture we hike up to Teke pinari pass(2550m) to see spectular view of the northern side of the Aladaglar. After a picnic lunch we hike down through the Cimbar Valley to Demirkazik Village. We meet our transfer vehicle and return to Goreme about 18.00.
The rate for this tour will be 325 Euro per person based on minimum 2 people, 240 Euro per person on three people base and 190 Euro per person for 4 people or more. This tour is operated daily from May through October.
Important Notes
The level of the hike is Grade B which means that you should be able to walk 6-7 hours per day, with some loose stone and occasional steep ascents. You should have good walking boots, daysack (approximately 40 liters), warm clothing, sunglasses, sunhat, suncream, raingear (preferably breathable such as goretex) and sleeping bag. Walking sticks are also recommended. You are expected to help pitch up / strike your own tents. All tents are good quality dome tents with two doors. Lunches will be picnics with a variety of some fruits and vegetables. You are expected to carry some part of the food for lunch. Evening meals will be hot soup, salads, a main course with pasta or rice and some fruits. Tea and coffee will be included in the price, but alcoholic and soft drinks which are available at camps or restaurants are excluded.

MOUNT HASAN
With an altitude of 3268 meters, Mount Hasan is the second highest peak of Central Anatolia. It is a sleeping volcano that is one of the three volcanoes in Cappadocia causing the formation of the fairy chimneys and deep canyons thanks to its lava and ashes. The surrounding of the mountain has some churches and some ancient cities. The summit of the mountain has a very lovely view of the entire Cappadocia region and even the Salt Lake (2nd largest in Turkey) on a clear day.
Mount Hasan Trek (2 days)
Day 1: We meet at the Turkish Heritage Travel office in goreme at 09:00 Then we drive to Ihlara village, 6 hours trek in the Ihlara Valley. We walk about 3.5 hours and en route visit three rock-cut churches. After a late lunch at around 13.30, we continue walking by the river down to Selime town. After visiting the Selime Monastery we drive to Helvadere and camp near the abondoned ski hotel.
(around 2000 mt).
Day 2: We wake up early for breakfast and start ascent over rough ground around sunrise. We hope to reach the summit before noon. (3268 mt) In good weather views of the Aladaglar and Bolkar mountains, Tuz Gölü -Salt lake- (2nd biggest in Turkey) are breathtaking. We will explore the ruins of the highest church in Turkey. Return to camp and drive for a late lunch at Helvadere trout restaurant. On the way back to Göreme, we stop for a quick swim in Nargölü lake.
